To mark National Drink Beer Day, Huffington Post has rounded up all the reasons why people should appreciate this amazing beverage. Beer has many uses you may have never heard of before reading this. Did you know that in Europe many people use beer to improve their skin? Here’s to other refreshing facts.
1. Beer goes perfectly with food
Burgers, wings, ribs, or washing down spicy food, beer is the perfect pairing with all kinds of foods.
2. It may be more nutritious compared to other alcohol
By no means is beer a health food, but you can’t deny that it has high source of protein and vitamin B. CNN admits that it has just as many antioxidants as wine.
3. Beer-battered everything
Anything beer battered is going to taste epic. Besides chicken and fish, try out another recipe like beer and bacon battered deep fried Doritos. Yum!
4. Good news ladies, a daily beer could help you age smarter
The New England Journal of Medicine conducted a study that showed women who had an alcoholic drink a day had less cognitive impairment than women who opted out from drinking alcohol.
5. It’s good for your heart
Drinking a little more than a pint of beer a day decreases your chances of heart attacks, strokes, and heart disease by 31 percent. Here’s to your health!
6. It could prevent kidney stones
While drinking soda increases your chances of developing kidney stones, beer reduces the risk by 41 percent.
7. Beer can smooth out bad hair days
Using flat beer German or Belgian beer adds volume to your hair. The malt nourishes and smooths the hair while the yeast strengthens the strands, according to make up artist Shalini Vahera.
8. You can soak in it for better skin
Beer is actually good for your skin so much so that European spas offer beer bath soaks and beer based facials that are made of ground hops, malt, honey and cream cheese. Dark lager has a reputation of therapeutic benefits.
9. Cooking with beer gives food amazing flavor
Throw a bottle of beer in random cooking recipes (don’t really add the bottle, just the beer) and it can change the flavor. Blogger Jackie aka “The Beeroness” creates new recipes by using beer such as Mile High Chocolate Stout Pie, Salted Beer Caramel Corn, and Beer Brined Scallops over Smokey Corn Puree and Stout Molasse Sauce.
