Another Thanksgiving is in the books! I hope that you and your family and friends took the time to appreciate what you have and that you told each other why you are grateful (along with enjoying all of your favorite food traditions!).
As a chef, I rarely get to spend Thanksgiving Day at home since we’re open at Morris Tap & Grill. We make all of the same foods that you do, just in much bigger quantities. We brined and cooked more than 20 turkeys, made mountains of mashed potatoes, gallons of whole berry cranberry sauce and so much more.
After making all of these traditional dishes, I was thinking about a way to celebrate the flavors of Thanksgiving using three of my favorites – turkey, sage and cranberries – and came up with the recipe I’m sharing with Pazoo.com. It’s pretty easy to make with ingredients that are available year-round, and it doesn’t involve roasting a whole turkey or peeling potatoes!
Grilled turkey sliders are served on cranberry muffins and topped with sage aioli. If you don’t have time to make your own muffin you can substitute your favorite muffin mix adding in some chopped dried cranberries, or purchase some mini-slider rolls. If you’re using slider rolls you’ll miss the slightly tart taste of cranberries but you can fix that by adding a smear of purchased cranberry sauce to the roll.
These sliders are great to make when your friends come over to watch football, decorate Christmas cookies, or after a tiring day of shopping at the mall.
In the weeks to come I’ll be sharing some simple recipes that are sure to please your friends and family during the holidays…and all year long!
Fire it up!
